Snow Capped Trek
(5 Days / 4 Nights)
Day 1: (SAT) Quito
Arrival in Quito and transfer to your hotel (meals on your own)
Day 2: (SUN) Quito/Cotocchoa /Pitatambo River
A one-hour drive takes us to the small town of Cotocchoa (2,600m/8,528ft), where we start our trek. After setting off, we pass through delightful countryside in various hues of green, passing by haciendas and through typical villages. 4 hours of trekking brings us to a small valley through which the Pitatambo river flows (3,000m/9,840 ft). The surrounding areas are rich in cloud forest interspersed with orchids and bromeliads. There will be time to explore as well as to go swimming. Camp overnight.
Day 3: (MON) Pitatambo River/Huagrahuasi
After an early breakfast, we start our trek by crossing an impressive cloud forest with dense vegetation and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the bamboo, polilepys, bromeliads, fuchsias and other typical plants indigenous to this type of ecosystem. The scenery than changes as we are surrounded by large fields of crops and green land until reaching the barren paramo. Camp is by a small river (3,400m/11,152ft) in the foothills of the Sincholagua volcano (4,893m/16,049 ft).
Day 4: (TUE) Sincholagua
Today is the most demanding day of the trek as our 5-hour hike takes us up to our next camp at 4,300m/14,104 ft. We skirt around the Sincholagua volcano, enjoying the spectacular view of the cloud forest and the nearby Cotopaxi volcano (5,897m/19,700ft). If conditions are favorable, we will be able to spot caracaras, falcons, eagles and the king of the Andes, the condor. Camp 2,000 feet below the Sincholagua summit.
Day 5: (WED) Sincholagua/Cotopaxi National Park/Quito
After breakfast, we continue our trek for another 4 hours until reaching Mudadero, a beautiful plain lying between Sincholagua and Cotopaxi, before walking on to Rumiñahui (4,712m/15,455ft) and the Limpiopungo lake in the valley of Cotopaxi. After lunch, a 2-hour drive, passing along the picturesque "Avenue of the Volcanoes" takes us back to Quito. Transfers to the airport or to your hotel are provided.

Water proof windbreaker and hiking boots, sleeping bag, daypack, woolen gloves, woolen cap covering entire head and ears, warm trousers, good sunglasses, hat, sunblock (at least 15 spf), canteen, flashlight, pocket knife, camera, binoculars, and wash kit.
Antisana - Papallacta Trek
(3 Days / 2 Nights)
Day 1: (SAT) Antisanilla
We leave Quito early in the morning, heading northeast towards the Antisana volcano. Our trek begins in the foothills of the volcano, ascending to the glacier and crossing the spectacular Antisanilla valley and lakebed. If we are fortunate we may be able to spot a condor swooping overhead. We then descend into the cloud forest, passing through bamboo zones and stopping to observe bromeliads and orchids at close quarters. We camp overnight at the nearby Laguna Volcan at 3,600m.
Day 2: (SUN) Río Tambo - Papallacta
After breakfast, we descend the Antisana slopes, passing some impressive waterfalls and traversing the cloud forest until reaching Río Tambo, where our vehicle meets us for the drive to Papallacta.
Day 3: (MON) Papallacta
We have the whole day to explore Papallacta, famous for its thermal springs and lush vegetation. A variety of short or longer treks are available for the more energetic while those seeking relaxation can enjoy the thermal springs which are reputed to have medicinal benefits. Depart late afternoon for Quito.

SOUTHERN ANCIENT TRAIL

Expeditions and Transportation
Day 1
Transfer to Quito airport for flight lo Loja, a small corner of paradise tucked away in the south of Ecuador, where the mountains hold a magical quality with their arid ridges and lush ravines, dramatic skies and rich colors and the only sounds are those of nature.We pick you up at Loja airport and take you to the Libertador hotel for breakfast and to store any unrequired luggage. We then continue on to the Podocarpus National Park where we take a picnic lunch and admire the waterfalls in virgin cloud forest and experience the area´s unique biodiversity. Overnight at hotel Libertador or similar (breakfast not included).
Day 2
After an early breakfast and a 7 a.m. departure, we travel for two hours to the town of the Saraguro Indians, who have maintaines their distinctive ethnic identity and whose origins date back to pre - Inca times. We visit one of their looms before continuing on to Urdaneta where we are met by our crew and horses. After saddlind up, we begin walking, gently gaining altitude. After 2 hours we arrive ar an ancient stone - paved road where we stop for a picnic lunch and admire the gorgeous views along the Saraguro valley. We continue our hike for another 2 hours before camping just before the Rio Negro at a height of 3,060m.
Day 3
We begin trekking ar 8.30, continuing along a remarkable trail, crossing over the stone bridge of the Rio Negro, arriving ar 3,200m at the "Tres Lagunas" (three lakes) after three hours where we camp. The afternoon is devoted to exploring the ares.
Day 4
Our day starts at 8:30. We reach a height of 3,300m after1 hour before descending down a windinf, stone-payed road into the cloud forest. This descent into the eastern side of the Andes has been described like walking into an enchanted wood and is undoubtedly one of the most beatiful cloud forest in Ecuador. As we continue descending, the vegetation becomes more dense and tropical. After 6 hours trekking, we camp at Palisada at an altitude of 2,200m from where we enjoy wonderful views of the water falls and can admire the Cordillera as it trails away into northern Perú.
Day 5
After an early 7.30 start, we descend down a pleasant trail to Tambo Loma from where we spot the Yacuambi River. A further 40 minutes walking brings us to the bridge over the river where we take lunch. After lunch, our guide gives us a brief safety talk. before we embark on our white water adventure, racing through gorgeous and beatiful canyons.
Day 6
Another day of rafting, but the river is more tranquil and rapids more scattered, giving us time to admire the passing scenery. After approximately 2 hours we stop for lunch and then begin our return to Loja. Overnight at the Libertador hotel (dinner not included).
Day 7
Transfer from hotel Libertador to Loja airport for flight to Quito.
